PERCEPTION LAWS

PERCEPTION LAW: GROUND /FIGURE AND CLOSURE

At the end of the trimestre we have been working on a new thing: a tribal tattoo inspired by the perception law of ground and figure and the law of closure.
The first one explains that our brain tends to define objects and planes
separating them from the ground, so creating a figure.
And the other law tells us that we love to close spots and shapes, uniting them in a familiar way...finishing drawings.
And that two laws work toguether when we create tribal tattoo, a black spots over a white background...spots that our brain joins in a identifying shape.

We dessigned tattoos of wind and string instruments or sport cars and motorbikes....what do you thing??
Would you dare to tattoo one of our works on your back or shoulder?
Be brave and tell us waht do you think!!!  :)

BASIC VISUAL ELEMENTS: PLANES

Kandinsky's Ways

Planes can be surfaces of colour or simply a line separating spaces, but he have the power of creating a dimension sense.
One of the masters of Basic Elements was Wassily Kandinsky, who on his Bauhaus period created some of the most famous Geometrical Abstraction paintings of all times.
His treatment of planes rich in colours and gradiations, his sense of movement and line composition tought us a new way of painting.
We have been working really hard trying to understand this, as our last work was about expressing a moment with Kandinsky language of basic elements.
We chose a given moment ( an XGame skateboard competition, a summer's night party or a wood walk at dusk ) and we had to keep the rithm, the colours and the athmosphere....on an geometrical abstract paint!!!

This teacher is really crazy, don't you think?

BASIC VISUAL ELEMENTS: POINT

Digital Pointillist Half-Portrait

Another one of basic elements of visual expression is the POINT.
It can be as big as a plane or simply a dot on a surface, but as many pointillist artist showed us, it can be used as an expressive way of painting.
Painters as Camille PissarroGeorges Seurat, Paul Signac or even Vincent van Gogh used this technique.
Modern artists as Ben Heine  and his Digital Circlism (as you can see in this blog article) use it in a new way...
We did half of a portrait of us, with a digital media as Paint or Photoshop, joining both tradition and technology...and it was soooo cool ! ! !

BASIC VISUAL ELEMENTS: LINES

Lineal Creation

Lines are an important element on graphic creations. They can have width and length, directions and movement...they're really expressive!
And of course, you can paint with them.
Given an abstract black-lined shape, we had to complete the drawing and create a new and original painting only with lines.
Do you think we achieved the goal? Leave us a comment!!
