The Vanishing Point is the place where receding lines converge. Think of a road disappearing in the distance. The sides of the road seem to meet at the Vanishing Point.

What is a mandala?

The meaning of mandala comes from Sanskrit meaning "circle." Even though it may be dominated by squares or triangles, a mandala has a concentric structure. Mandalas offer balancing visual elements, symbolizing unity and harmony. The meanings of individual mandalas is usually different and unique to each mandala. The goal of the mandala is to serve as a tool on our spiritual journey as it symbolizes cosmic and psychic order.

On our creative drafting assignment, we worked to create our own mandala, combining circles and other geometric shapes.

MANDALAS


Mandala (Sanskrit: मण्डल Maṇḍala, 'circle') is a spiritual and ritual symbol in Hinduism and Buddhism, representing the Universe. The basic form of most mandalas is a square with four gates containing a circle with a center point. Each gate is in the general shape of a T.[ Mandalas often exhibit radial balance.
In common use, mandala has become a generic term for any plan, chart or geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically; a microcosm of the universe.

We are not so much spiritual, but we created mandalas using technical drawing tools and the knowledge about regular polygons and stars. So using our compasses and our rulers, we both mixed the logical drawing and the creative taste for shapes and colors.
